Frequently asked questions

What shippers usually ask before a first shipment. If your question is not here, call us or message us on WeChat.

Which lanes does Zhipu Logistics run?

Four lanes run in parallel: three export lanes to Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and the Americas, plus a two-way export and import lane with Africa and the Middle East. The Americas lane covers the US West Coast, US East Coast and Canada, and the Europe lane runs from major Chinese ports to the main base ports in Europe. Actual arrangements depend on your cargo details and the plan confirmed with you.

Do you handle imports? How does the ore return leg from Africa and the Middle East work?

Yes. The Africa and Middle East lane runs both ways, and the return leg carries copper ore, lead-zinc ore and other non-ferrous metal ores back to ports in China. On the return leg, on top of drayage, booking, customs clearance, pickup and delivery, we also arrange loading at origin and import customs clearance in China.

Should I ship FCL or LCL?

Consolidated volumes that need a steady shipping rhythm usually go FCL; shipments too small for a full container, or cargo shipped in batches, go LCL. You can work out the total volume with the CBM calculator and compare it with the full container loading reference; the final choice is confirmed against your volume and destination conditions.

See the full container loading reference
How is LCL charged?

LCL is usually charged on the W/M freight ton: the greater of volume (CBM) and gross weight (metric tons). The actual charging basis follows the quotation, and the Shipping Tools page works out the W/M for your shipment.

Calculate CBM and chargeable weight
Why are there no published freight rates on the website?

Because rates move with sailings and space, we quote each shipment separately after checking its lane, cargo and sailing, rather than listing fixed prices. Send us your cargo details or submit an online booking request, and we will check space and sailings, then reply.

Submit a booking request
What information do I need to book?

Six items are required: port of loading, port of destination, commodity, container type and quantity, cargo-ready date, and a contact phone or WeChat ID. Trade terms, HS code, shipper, company name and additional notes can be left blank; we will confirm them when we reply. What you submit is a booking request: once the carrier releases space, we pass on the booking confirmation and cut-off times.

Online Booking
Who handles customs clearance and delivery at destination?

Local customs brokers and delivery teams at destination carry them out. We check declaration documents against the trade mode and cargo attributes and coordinate clearance at both the export and import ends; container pickup and delivery after arrival are arranged to destination conditions, covering both warehouse and door delivery.

Where are your overseas warehouses, and what can they do?

We have self-operated warehouse points in the US and Europe for transfer, temporary storage and relabeling. Exception handling can also be coordinated to actual warehouse conditions.

Can you ship energy storage products with lithium batteries?

Yes: energy storage equipment containing lithium batteries is declared and loaded as dangerous goods. The dangerous goods declaration is checked case by case, and what we can take on is confirmed against your cargo details.

How do I track my cargo?

Enter a container number or carrier B/L number on the Cargo Tracking page to check shipment milestones, with no login needed. If nothing comes up, send us the number and we will check it manually.

Check milestones
Can you work with FOB, CIF, EXW and other trade terms?

We arrange each shipment according to its actual trade terms; just state them in the Trade terms field when you book. To see where risk transfers under each term, and who pays the main freight and handles export and import clearance, check the Incoterms® 2020 reference.
